DRYWOOD TERMITE CONTROL
Drywood termites can go unnoticed for many years. Once visible signs are discovered, the termites usually have been damaging the structure for up to 5 years.
Established colonies of termites can eat through up to 20 2×4’s in one year. The larger the colony, the more destruction that they can cause. Early detection and prevention is the key to controlling drywood termites in Southern California.

Drywood termites form colonies that have up to 2,500 members and live in the wood members of the structure. There may be several colonies of termites in the same structure. Established colonies of over 4+ years will eventually have termites swarm.
They usually swarm on warm days after a sudden rise in temperature. Usually 50+ swarmer’s will emerge and have only hours to find a mate and begin a new colony or they will die. Drywood termites can be found in any wood within structures, furniture, wood piles, wood fences, patios, playhouses, decorations, picture frames, ect.

DRYWOOD TERMITE HABITAT
Primarily found coastally from South Carolina westward to Texas and up the west coast of California, drywood termites prefer dry wood which is easier to eat and penetrate.
They can easily access attic spaces through attic vents and infest attic framings and ceiling joists. Fire wood piles can breed drywood termites and infest entire neighborhoods. They can also be imported into structures by bringing in infested furniture, decorations, picture frames, or by using infested lumber for repairs or additions.
PEST THREAT LEVEL
Drywood termites cause billions of dollars in damage to structures every year. Established colonies can chew through support beams, floors and walls, causing expensive home repairs.
This damage is occurring 24/7 to an infested home. Homeowner’s insurance does not cover termite damage. Therefore, it is best to minimize drywood termite infestations to avoid thousands of dollars in repairs.
