Silverfish have a uniform silver-metallic appearance and can be found in areas of high moisture and near food sources. They cannot fly and have no wings, but are able to run very fast. When they are found indoors, it is typically near areas of heat and moisture such as laundry rooms, bathrooms, and boiler rooms.
Environments that are in excess of 50% humidity provide optimum environment for silverfish that can make them difficult to control. They are unable to reproduce or survive in buildings of very low humidity.
