Fleas are found all over the world. They feed on the blood of warm bodies. Fleas often are carriers of parasites and disease organisms.
They do not prefer humans, in heavy infestations, they can feed on any available host. They have powerful mouths that allow them to pierce skin and can jump as high as 8 inches high and 16 inches long.

Fleas have a life-span for up to 100 days and females up to 300 eggs in her lifetime. Depending on the temperature and humidity, the eggs can hatch between 2 days to 1 week.
Adult fleas will not emerge until approximately 10-14 days after the eggs have hatched. Fleas typically remain on their host always except in large infestations or when they hatch and no host is present such as vacant homes. They can be found on domestic pets such as dogs and cats; livestock; rodents; and wild animals.
