Habits

Indian meal moths like to feed on grains, cereal products, dried herbs, dried fruits, nuts, dried dog food, bird seed, flaked fish food, dried flowers or seeds, chocolate, powdered milk, dried red peppers and candy. They are attracted to a wide variety of foods and due to their small size, the larvae are very difficult to see without a microscope.

Habitat

Indian meal moths are found in warehouses where affected products are stored in packaged and unpackaged form and distribution environments such as grocery stores. They are attracted to the light.
