Finding Their Hiding Locations
Unfortunately, bed bugs everywhere people live. Public places are crawling with these critters, and you would never even notice bringing home one or two. The most common place they are, as their name suggests, is in beds. More specifically, you will find them nestled within the creases of the piping of mattresses (the tube of fabric at the edge of the mattress.) These bugs are tiny and enjoy these comfy crevices the most.
Itchy spots on the skin anywhere on your body. Bed bugs feed at night, most of the time, you would never know that they are there until after over a week of infestation, and bite marks appear. Most bed bug bites are painless at first but later turn into itchy welts.
The most common sign of bed bugs is blood drops on your bed sheets or clothes after a long night of sleep. Bed bugs can latch on and suck your blood for up to ten minutes before falling off. They inject an anticoagulant (a blood thinner) as they need to make feeding easier for them and less detectable to you while you rest.
Luckily, if you have an on-going infestation, bed bugs do not spread any diseases to humans like Lyme disease from ticks or Malaria from mosquitoes. Bed bugs are a nuisance pest and an annoyance. Once they take over your living space, they are very difficult to remove. Call today for a FREE inspection and $100 off your first pest treatment service.*
Bed Bugs are smarter than you think. They outsmart local treatments and detour from one area to another, from beds to carpets, and the rug to the couch, etc. They slowly walk over to another room and all the treatment you used sits there while the bed bugs made a home in another spot. It takes a few treatments to make sure we catch these well-hidden pests. Call A-1 Bonded Termite, Inc. for the job done right.
The good news is, even with the worst bed bug problems, and with some sterilization, you could save most or all of your valuable property.
In the most extreme cases, if an entire home or business becomes infested and localized treatments are no longer useful, a tented bed bug removal, or fumigation, may be necessary. We make bed-bug fumigation easy, and you are back home and pest free within three days. Read more about our bed bug fumigation process here.
Clean-Up To Prevent Bed Bugs
– Clean bedding, linens, curtains.
– Avoid clutter
– Vacuum often around your mattress, bed, and bed-area. Dispose of vacuum bags within another sealed bag immediately if bed bugs are suspected.
– If your mattress is treatable and cleanable, steaming and fumigation is a possibility. Read more about our furniture fumigation options.
– Repair cracks in foundation, walls, windows, and doors as they may invite many pests, not just bed bugs.
