A-1 SPECIALIZES IN
There are several species of yellowjackets and they are yellow and black in color. They typically build their nests underground or at ground level. Colonies of yellow jackets can persist for more than a year in California.
Their behavior with humans can be unpredictable. Sometimes when they feel the nest is threatened they will sting and other times they will ignore a human. Because these pests are known to sting, it is best to get rid of yellow jackets promptly to avoid injury.

THE YELLOW JACKET WASP
Yellow jackets are very social insects that live in colonies with up to several thousand workers. They feed on carbohydrates and sugars such as fruits and beverages such as punches and beer. Late summer and early fall are when yellow jackets are producing new queens and they demand sugars from the workers. This coincides with humans having backyard barbecues, parks, and picnics.
thin, segmented, small about 3/8″ to 5/8″
YELLOW JACKET WASP HABITAT
Yellow jackets tend to be found close in proximity to where humans are found. They can build nests underground in mammal burrows, in concrete foundation voids, in wall voids, attics, and crawlspaces.
Nests are built of cartons out of broken down cellulose from the ground or eaves and attic spaces.
PEST THREAT LEVEL
Yellowjackets can sting and pose significant health threats to humans.
Their behavior is unpredictable, and they can be territorial if they feel the nest is threatened.
They can sting multiple times
and can cause severe allergic reactions. Allergic reaction to yellow jacket stings can be fatal.
